Guys i just found this rare video clip of Manila during the 1930's and i was so stoked and can't believed what my eyes saw during that time , the places are very beautiful and clean. I also noticed that back then filipinos drove in the correct side of the road. I also love those antique cars and the women going shopping w/ their traditional filipiniana costume ( gowns w/ buterfly sleeves). OMG! for a country that consists of more than 7,000 islands, seeing this place is really surreal and stunning!!! I love it and now it's on my bookmark. So for those of you who are history buffs and enhusiast, this is a must see video... I wish i live at that time coz it's seems like life was so peaceful back then unlike now there's so many changes, i hope the phil. gov't preserved our historical places that are not heavily damaged during the WW II.
Bravo audrey nice find that brought tears, This must be during the Manuel Quezon era ? We where an Industrial and economic gaint during those days, Manila was so beautiful and booming no over population, no signs of poverty , Just signs of Prosperity No one wanted to leave the country then , People dress with their hats , suit and ties and beautiful maria clara
dresses wow , Lots of beautiful cars , calesa and cable cars , also had a UP campus in manila , prestine golf courses and
beautiful landscape and homes . I can't believe what happened now ? anyways thanks a million , I'm saving this video any more.
HI! Lapu-lapu, this clip also brought tears on my face coz when you see MANILA then and now so much changes happened, you can see alll the trees and plants everywhere around the city and the cable cars OMG! where are those now? i didn't know that we have a cable cars before in Manila, it really looks like a wonderful paradise then, it's so clean and no slums and garbages anywhere. And would you believed that Tondo is one of the most prestigous place in Manila but look a t now that place was a nightmare......and those bridge was stunnning! MANILA then is like a LATIN AMERICA OF ASIA ,there's so much clean spaces and not crowded, you can see only the same vehicles and the additional calesa and whew! what do you call that vehicle w/ the carabao! OMG! no wonder the place is not polluted then coz have we calesa and other means of transporatation, the architectural design of those buildings and houses are amazing......i never have a chance to see all these before , i can see something likethis only in the old movies but not not like this and i never watch old movies coz it's boring....... and the people then looks so ...... wow!!! i don't know what to say........
If you notice all the statue and design of the bridges are gone someone removed them could have been the war , but it was an amazing time and place something we should all be proud off
nice find audrey....very informative........i never know that we had a kalesa bus.....only few traces of old manila are left nowadays....i wish the government would watch this film.
Oh Wow, I like this one, I'm starting to forget my Philippines history after living abroad for so long. Nice to have a thread like this. Thanks Audrey, Lapu-Lapu and Misty.

Thanks to u all who shared these rare vids...it indeed showcased the grandeur of Manila back in those days...changes were inevitable...we can only wish that somehow we will be able to preserve what is left....
this time there is no traffic jam. its easy to go anywhere in manila in just few hours. unlike now it takes long hour before you reach the place you want to go. and no much pollution. most people are really into business and work the whole day of their life. nice you able to preserve and save this.
